She was born to Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa Rexha and Dukagjin Lipa. The maternal grandparents of her are Bosnian. There is also a trace of Lipa's ancestral roots in Peja in Kosovo. The two grandfathers of Lipa were historians. They have a brother Gjin Lipa and a sister Rina.
