Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny, sleepy town. This West Island, to those not familiar with it, is an extensive area that extends from Lachine all the way west. Amanda Brugel grew up on this island, and it is frequently called her birthplace. However, she only resided there for a very short duration. Brugel developed on Courtice just outside Oshawa within Ontario. Her first ambition was to be an expert dancer. Then, a growth rate increased her height and she outgrew her dance partners she had. In an interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I'm 6 feet and 1 inch." Once I surpassed all my male partners then I stopped. There are many dancers who make the move to acting. For the Brugel family, it was their drama teacher who encouraged her into this path. She was encouraged to try out for roles in a school production. She was able to audition and be cast as Anne of Green Gables. Following her award of the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Her career spans twenty years, and she's been in over 60 productions including big screen productions and on smaller ones. The most well-known role she played was as Rita (pictured below) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the character the character of Rita on The Handmaid's tale which was produced over the course of ten years.
